…a hub to the nations…
A place of hope and transformations for the community with various programs operational
YWAM Arusha established a field center in Engikaret village of Longido district in 2005 firstly with a pre-school class to help prepare local children to go to school and keep them away from taking care of their family livestock when they ought to be in school.
Two years later we built our mission center and have a team of staff members move in to stay on-site and serve the local community more comprehensively. With the help of our international partners we were able to build a mission center able to house considerable number of workers for the pre-school and other programs as well as to use for our various activities.
The center has since grown to become a place of hope and transformations for the community with various programs operational
It’s a model English medium school that seeks to provide affordable and high quality Christian based education to the local children to enable them live out their potential and reach their destinies in life as a way to bring sustainable social transformation of the local Maasai community.
This School is largely sponsored by well wishers with parents only contributing about 10 -15% of the total cost for the children.
Besides the contributions we have over 60 of the children in the school who are 100% sponsored to learn in the school.
The total number of pupils in the school currently from pre-school to primary class 6 is 275.
Women empowerment and health training is among the programs that our team does targeting the local community, we aim to make the local maasai woman take charge of her life and run her home independently and responsibly.
Free medical care is a program that we carry out at the village and sometimes in neighboring villages in partnership with the district hospital in Longido once a month at least.
Adult education targeting mostly local men and women as well, this we have in the recent past expanded to neighboring village of Kiserian and incorporated basic English language studies.
Discipleship and church ministries including church planting. We have over the last couple of years propagated the Gospel in the villages across Longido district and have started a church community currently running on our property and we are helping them build a church hall on a piece of land granted them by the village. We have also started Discipleship training schools targeting Maasai pastors and lay people in need to understanding further the Bible and their call to be pro-active in transforming their own society.
Faces For Hope programs targeting vulnerable girls and boy-child in Longido district as well as other Maasai people dominated districts in Arusha region. Through this program in partnership with our international friends and the local government, our mission has rescued and helped to rescue girls from teenage/child marriages, prevented girl circumcision and educated the vulnerable girls to give them a voice and a chance to determine their futures. In this program we have over 80 girls in our care and sponsorship studying in secondary, high school and college level at the moment with some already graduated and working. We further have 60 vulnerable girls in primary school fully sponsored to keep them in school at our New Vision School.
