Karatu Mission Center

A launch-pad to reach out to Karatu, Ngorongoro District, Mbulu District and areas close by

YWAM Arusha established a field office in Karatu town as a launch-pad to initially reach out to Karatu & Ngorongoro District and later be able to reach out to Mbulu District and areas close by.
Currently the Mission center in Karatu has the following programs operational

A branch of New Vision School being pioneered. Currently running pre and primary school now at the level of class 1 with

  • 6 teachers
  • 1 matron
  • 3 school drivers
  • 2 cooks
  • 2 cleaners

 

The total number of 101 students whereby 13 in class one and 88 in pre-school

Community development programs that include

  • Deep well drilling of water for the community in which we have covered 12 different villages with that region.
  • We also partner with the local government, local water committee and the local member of parliament to help drill bore-hales for 2 villages each year

Environmental conversation programs targeting homesteads, Schools and communities. We have consistently targeted doing 30,000 seedlings planted each year in the targeted areas.

  • With the assistance of the local government we distribute the tree seedlings to schools and villages
  • We prepare the seedbeds for each seasons and have been doing that from 2011 and hope to keep that project on-going until 2020

Assistance to build new class rooms in local primary and secondary schools

Relief work targeting 50-100 bags of grain distributed as and where in need each year. At the same time using our two tractors we help local farmer to till their land for better productivity to reduce poverty, dependence of relief food and hunger. In 2017 we tilled 313 acres of land for different farmers

We also offer agriculture training to local farmer as well as using solar energy for domestic use. We also distribute solar lights to families who participating in our training.

We also work with local church and Christian groups in propagating the gospel, organizing conference and seminar for pastors and lay leaders’ training as well as helping in construction of church buildings for need local congregations.
